Those hours, that with gentle work did frame

The lovely gaze where every eye doth dwell,

Will play the tyrants to the very same

And that unfair which fairly doth excel;

For never-resting time leads summer on

To hideous winter, and confounds him there;

Sap checked with frost, and lusty leaves quite gone,

Beauty o'er-snowed and bareness every where:

Then were not summer's distillation left,

A liquid prisoner pent in walls of glass,

Beauty's effect with beauty were bereft,

Nor it, nor no remembrance what it was:

But flowers distill'd, though they with winter meet,

Leese but their show; their substance still lives sweet.

hours = time、gentle 優しい、frame = make, shape 形作る

gaze = face 容貌、dwell （視線が惹きつけられて）そこに留まる

tyrants 残酷な暴君、same = lovely gaze

that = play of time 時の作用、unfair （動詞）美を奪う

fairly doth excel = surpasses in beauty 美において抜きん出ている

hideous = horrifying、confounds = destroys, corrupts

Sap 樹液、checked 阻害・止められた・凍てついた、lusty = green 繁茂した

o'er-snowed = over-snowed 雪で覆われた、bareness 草木もないこと、不毛

summer's distillation = summer's essence 夏花から作られた香水

pent in 閉じ込められた、

Beauty' effect 美の効能・効き目、繁殖力、bereft = be lost 失われる

it = summer/beauty、remembrance 思い出させるもの

distilled 蒸留された
